INFECTION CONTROL

During construction, renovation, and maintenance in sensitive areas.

Dust and infection control measures are vital in every construction, remediation and renovation project. The main goal of infection control is risk mitigation and to ensure the health and safety of people in and around construction sites in health care settings, schools, or laboratories to name a few.

Proper barriers that create containment chambers and establish the correct negative pressure by utilizing HEPA-based air purification systems and scrubbers are designed to create safe environments.

Following the CSA and CCDR (Canadian Communicable Disease Report) guidelines for infection control will greatly reduce the risks associated during construction and renovation projects.

Possible sources of infection causing agents in construction settings include mould, dust, or soils.

Construction dust and debris commonly contain Aspergillius and Penicillium fungal spores.

These types of fungi thrive on organic materials such as
wood and drywall. Additionally, Legionella bacteria is an aquatic organism that may be present during the disturbance of soils or dust, and in potable and non-potable water systems. If not properly contained, these fungi spores and bacteria can become airborne and travel great distances away from the initial area of disturbance.

SITE SPECIFIC CONTAINMENT

Our qualified staff will work with the site contractor, facilities personnel, ICP (Infection Control Professional) and/or OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) personnel, to develop your site-specific containment system.

HEPA filtered negative air pressurized containment systems greatly reduce the risk of dust, bacteria and fungi from entering public and patient areas, therefore minimizing the risk to patients, staff, visitors, and protecting all stakeholders.

We're experienced in handling both small and large-scale projects around the province.

Together, we can facilitate:

  • The relationship between the ICP and the site contractor

  • Containment enclosure setup

  • Equipment setup, monitoring and maintenance

  • Containment enclosure removal and final cleanup
